The Penn State Life: 100+ Years of La Vie Online

1962 La Vie, Page91
Yearbooks capture in time a single academic year that forever reflects our youth, exuberance, and vitality. At Penn State, the yearbook La Vie (translated the Life) has captured these moments since 1890. Primarily using photos, La Vie documents formal college graduates, social activities, sporting events, Greek life, personalities, local and national events, clubs and organizations, faculty and administrators, and much, much more. La Vie offers Penn State alumni a nostalgic opportunity to relive their glory days and share those moments with their children, grandchildren, friends, and colleagues.
Yearbooks are among the most frequently utilized resource volumes in the University Libraries, cherished by all classes of user groups for the myriad research topics they facilitate.
Penn State University Archives, in collaboration with the Libraries Digitization and Preservation Department, has captured the physical yearbooks from 1890–2000, in digital format, resulting in 51,000 pages stored in 1.3 terabytes of space, and placed them online for all to use, see and enjoy as they explore Penn State's vibrant history.
Using original publications, the online version of La Vie allows users to turn back the page on their history, their parents’ antics, their grandparents’ legacies, and relive the best moments of their lives.
Located on the Libraries homepage under Digitized Collections, or at http://resources.libraries.psu.edu/coll/lavie, the online La Vie can be accessed from home, work, or school, during your travels, while you are visiting, literally anytime, anywhere as long as you have a computer, access to the Penn State Website, and a little bit of curiosity.
The exhibit is on display through August 14. Special hands-on workshops to be held in the Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library, University Park, are scheduled for 2:30–4:30 p.m., Fridays, June 5 and July 10.
